Training is different from teaching. Training implies not just instruction, but modelling and application. Jesus taught His disciples to go, and do as He had done. At Prayer for the Nations our heart is to find people willing to invest themselves into periods of time where systematic Bible teaching, and training can be offered in such a way that they can afterwards depart with a rich deposit of understanding to take back to their local fellowships or groups.
We often read, but don't have understanding Here are just two passages of scripture, that remind us of the importance of having others alongside us to help us on our way: |
Proverbs 4:7-9 (Amplified Bible) |
7 The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation). [James 1:5.] |
8 Prize Wisdom highly and exalt her, and she will exalt and promote you; she will bring you to honor when you embrace her. |
9 She shall give to your head a wreath of gracefulness; a crown of beauty and glory will she deliver to you. |
| Acts 8:29-31 (Amplified Bible) |
29 Then the [Holy] Spirit said to Philip, Go forward and join yourself to this chariot. |
30 Accordingly Philip, running up to him, heard [the man] reading the prophet Isaiah and asked, Do you really understand what you are reading? |
31 And he said, How is it possible for me to do so unless someone explains it to me and guides me [in the right way]? And he earnestly requested Philip to come up and sit beside him. |
